When it snows...

Well today it snowed again so it has inspired me to take a few photos of today and upload some photos of the other day. A few more random pictures went up on wavm. All bar one lecture has been cancelled, fingers crossed that it will be called off as well.

Drunken House Mates

Surely the sound of breaking glass, the whirl of the power drill and the floor turned into a swimming pool would suggest that AJ is about. You be right.

AJ is one of his rages decided it would be funny to pull the chair which Pat had attached to Dan's door. This resulted in the handle coming off. You wouldn't think they would be able to fix it in there drunk state but to be fair they did. Master DIY-ers even when drunk.

Also while in my room heard some bottle being thrown no doubt it was AJ again. I left as soon as AJ was covered in water by Dan. A water fight did follow. The joys of living down stairs!

Phone less

Today I did one of the most stupidest things ever. I washed my phone in the washing machine :-( I thought I was being good doing a load of washing. I emptied my jeans taking all the junk out my pockets but I forgot to empty my pouch on my hoodie. 10 mins after the start of my wash as i saw my digital camera and my wallet on my desk I thought where is my phone. Then the horrible sinking feeling entered my stomach.

Better news is that my phone has never been so clean. Going to pop down to town on Wednesday and see what I can find. I wont buy anything online I like to get hands on with things before looking for the best price. O well. Best way to get in contact with me now is by email....

PC upgrade

to
Today my new keyboard and mouse arrived ebuyer to replace my ghetto old school Compaq keyboard (with missing number 5 key) and my IBM mouse with ball. My new Microsoft keyboard comes with all these quick launch keys. I can now fire off dreamweaver or eclipse with the touch of a button. Hopefully It may make me blog a bit more. After Monday I should get allot more free time....

All I need to do now is replace my monitor at some point and get a nice TFT and my PC will be complete!

Pedometer

Today I got my free pedometer through the post. I put it on when I got in from walking to campus and back. So from about 12:00 to now I have walked 14039 steps. It is recommended that you should walk 10000 steps a day to keep fit. Tomorrow I will put it on first thing and see how many I really do. Wont be going to campus as much tomorrow mind….

4 Years

Today marks the 4 year anniversary of me and Steph being together. It is weird to think that some of my friends have never known me as a single bloke. It has flown by though I am sure that’s a good sign.

WAVM update

Marks birthday photos are online. Another question why are there no Indian's open at 00:00 in Croydon. We looked round for one for 45mins and nothing. Made do with a frozen curry when I had got in. Croydon really does need more take aways open till the early hours. That’s one of the best things about Canterbury that I can order food at 03:00 and get it delivered to my door!

Good old times

Tonight the crew meet up in the Rectory and it was just like the good old times. We were not all there, Tommy is in Egypt, Duncan working etc etc. In total there were 13.5(Phil was working) of us there out of the 20 something. It was really nice to see a good turn out from the girl side.

There was a lot of homo erotica going on. Would like to say that CJ was the main culprit but we were just winding Steph up. The death move reappeared which has not been seen in a while. One thing which was not cool was when Dixon, Chris and Peter thought it would be funny to tickle me for ages, the result was me coming off my chair and cowering under the table. Not cool guys not cool. Hopefully tonight was just a warm up for new years should be a very good night :- ).

Long time no blog

You really know you have not blogged in a long time when there are no blog posts on the main page. Been busy working 11 hour days in Woolworths and have not had a day off since a week Saturday ago so finding time to blog is hard. Below is a quick round up of a few of the blog posts I would have put up if I had found the time to write them:

  • Leaving uni to start work
  • My review of the Darkness gig (It really really really rocked. Best band I have ever seen live!)
  • My pet hate, rude boys on micro scooters.
  • New Kebab shop in Croydon (I am getting discount from them very cool)
  • Pluto's Revolution recorded there first track to download
  • Mucking around with the Drupal CMS for the new KUCA website
  • Buying web hosting for the first time (well KUCA buying it more like)

Aiming to leave work by Tuesday next week so hopefully I will become more active then. Well I say that now...

Update

As you may be able to tell the amount of free time I have had has dramatically fallen over the past few weeks hence why I have not been blogging much. Any way this is a quick catch up post.

  • Last Thursday I helped out in the First Lego League where I was a referee.
  • Julian Brazier MP for Canterbury came and talked to KUCA on Thursday night.
  • Saturday Donkey came to visit Oliver and I
  • Went to a thank you Conservative party in the evening
  • Sunday backed a cake with Rob!
  • Monday another KUCA meeting Neil and Sam from the association came down and talked about how to target the students.
  • Set up a new KUCA mailing list
  • Did numerous odd jobs for KUCA and sent a lot of emails

I still however have a busy week I need to

  • Pack

  • Go to Swindon on Tuesday evening

  • Wednesday assessment day at Intel

  • Wednesday travel to Ascot in the evening

  • Thursday second interview with Lily

  • Thursday go to a debate between KUCA and KLS

  • Friday play football for KUCA in the RAG 7-a-side football cup

Sure I will be busy at the weekend. Not long till Christmas mind. shame when I get back my next day off wont be till Christmas day will be working every hour I can at Woolworths.

Lame excuses

Tonight I have heard one of the worst excuses ever for not coming out. I cant come out due to the fact that I have a bacterial infection of the shoulder!!! To be fair this is also from the main who did not go to an computing lesson because he cooked some bad bread and he made him unwell, well that is what he told the teacher it wasnt because he stayed round mine the night before.

Oliver Peter and myself have travelled from Canterbury to hook up with one another and to see the band Hayseed Dixie. Dan on the other hand is still in Southampton. We think that some one had a bit too much for drink and is being lazy. To think we were worried that he had not made contact ;-) Anyway he may still make it down to the gig, hope so I do miss him. Full review up tomorrow hopefully.

Back in full swing

This week has been a busy one for me on two main levels really. First of all I have started lectures again and with one lecture to go in my first full week back this year should be interesting.

All ready have been set 3 assignments one of which had just been handed in. It’s amazing how in not doing any major Java programming recently how it’s the simple things you forget. I want to join to strings together and I was using ++ (used in Haskell) instead of + which took me some time to figure out what was going on. Glad it was set though it wasn’t hard to program at all an abstract class with some sub classes should have done ok on it anyway. Got one Assignment to fit in this weekend but this weekend is action packed so it will be interesting to see when I get it done.

The other thing which has been taking up my time is the running of the KUCA. In total this week I will have been to 3 KUCA meetings; the intro meeting on Monday, the “get to know you dinner” on Wednesday and the training which is taking part tonight. There is still a chance that I will be canvassing tomorrow morning as well. No rest for the wicked.

Still haven’t had a lot of time to just chill yet which is a bit of a pain but hopefully that will change soon. A lot of my time currently involves me heading up to Canvas to check my email as our home network has not been set up yet (hopefully will be set up this evening our ADSL has been switched on)

Life is really back in full swing now. It is nice to be back though :-)

My first night in my new home

Yesterday I packed up my bedroom put it in the car went to my new home unloaded the bags into the living room and after a quick trip to Asda I was left alone.

After mobing all the objects which came in my room, a bed, desk, chair, draws and an Ikea thingy my room had the layou I wanted. Then came the task of unpacking...

After I got all my electrical gear psotioned so i can use my pc from my bed and still be able to sit at the desk and use it :-) Some skill. Then it came to about 17:45 and the power went. Well I thoguht I must of tripped the fuse box so off I went to the "server room"(well it will be when we get the server) and I checked all the fuses, all fine, all saying on. I then procedded to carry on emptying my room and hoped the problem would solve it self.

Well around 19:30 when duck has set in and I could not see much I just sat in the living room for a bit trying to re wire a plug, bad idea as i dropped a screw and couldnt find it so I had to abanden it it. The electricty was not flowing.

When it got to 20:00 it was dark. I looked out of the window in Dan's room and saw candle lights in the other houses so I knew I was not alone. Sadly I had no candles or no tourch so any light I could get was from my phone. A generic text was sent out and then these kind people rung me:

Tommy rang first and during the course of the conversation I tried to build a fire outside to get some light. The paper was would not light so I sprayed deodrant on it, sadly I picked up shaving gel in the dark and that just put the flames out. I then found my deodrant and it did go up in flames untill it hitthe area wih shaving gel and it went out once more. That was a fun convo.

I than proceded to have converstions with Donkey, Peter, Dad, Steph Alex and AJ. Sorry if I missed anyone out. Thats kept me ammused till around 22:00.

The next 20mins I sat in the dark on the sofa waiting for Greg to turn up so I would no longer be alone. By this time I was starving, I could not ook as our electric oven would not work. I ended up eating dry bread, lucky me

At 22:30 the lights came back one and I could see :-) Greg turned up 10 mins later. Things were on the up. Of course why did it have to happen on my first night? Any other night I woukd of been fine.

Sorry for any mistakes aboth the libary closes very soon and I want to check a book out as well not been here long been out canversing for the by-election in Barton. Vote Conserative guys you know you want to.

My new home

After four months away from UKC today I returned to pick up the keys to my new home from the letting shop.

After several hours of discussion the rooms were decided via draw. I now have room number 1 in our new home which is situated downstairs. It has wood flooring and looks out to the garden. Its a good size room which has recently been painted (last year). So its all good.

The house is alot better than I remembered it, the living room had ample space (there was only 5 of us today that may cahnge when the other 3 come round). The kicthen is still small, well very smalland smells of Ant Killer but apart from that the house is in fairly good nick.

We gota lot sorted as well, well I say we more like Pat. Water, Gas, Electricty, Phone and Internet are all done and dusted. Just hope we have the inter web net by the time we move in.

Looking forward to moving in sometime later this week, I imagine Thursday. Not long to go at all now, still have alot to do. Need to get the KUCA website up ASAP, the design just inst coming at the moment. Hopefully sleeping on it should help.
